Rachel Is a mixed-media craft designer and maker. She is regularly commissioned to design bespoke textile based learning tools and props for educational establishments and global community outreach projects.
Woolly Educational Tools
Rachel designs and makes bespoke textile based learning tools for educational establishments. These have recently included knitted plankton, giant stick insects and fish, specifically cod and salmon pictured in development.

In collaboration with Music in the Community at The University of Edinburgh, Rachel designs puppets and props for global musical outreach projects. This Tin Bird and colourful feathery bird puppet (in action) recently travelled to Greece to work with refugee children on a community music production of The Tin Forest. This fabric and wire tree made in December 2018, was taken to the The Gambia to feature in a community outreach musical production of The Big Boat and the Snore Gatherers.
The Gambia Project works in collaboration with The University of Edinburgh and The Alle Leake Kunda West African Drum School. This tree was made from scraps of material being thrown away, old gardening wire and florist tape. Rachel is passionate about up-cyling crafting materials wherever possible.
